New SL Content Policy & the BODY HAiR SHOP




As many of the Second Life residents already know, some months ago Linden Lab has announced their plans about upcoming changes for Adult Content that came in effect on 15 September 2009. This new policy affects adult content creators and their land parcels or SIMs that they have to be designated as "Adult" from the previous "Mature" rating.

This policy does not affect any of the BODY HAiR SHOP products, because according to the Adult Content FAQ, all of our released items are rated as "Mature" and not "Adult".

However, since some of our outpost stores are residing on Malls/SIMs that had to change their rating from "Mature" to "Adult", we would like to inform our customers that in order to visit a "Mature" SIM or parcel, you need to be age verified. This is a very simple procedure that takes only few steps. For more information, please visit the Linden Lab official Age Verification FAQ.

For the rest of the residents who don't want or can't get age verified, you can still shop freely from our many other available outpost stores on Malls or SIMs that are still rated as "Mature".

The International Mr Leather Contest 2009



We are pleased to announce our sponsoring of the Impulse International Mr. Leather Contest 2009 (IML09). IML is the biggest and oldest event of its kind in Second Life (currently on its 4th year) and is very popular with contestant participation and observers of the event.

The contest will be held on 25th-27th September 2009 on a class 5 private SIM, rented exclusively for the event, so it is as low lag as possible, and the location will be provided right before the contest happens.

Your body hair turned all black? You need to rebake.



From time to time we receive reports from customers that their favourite chest or leg hair suddenly turned all black (or white) and it looks like a jet black shirt (or pants). If this happened after you have changed your video card or its drivers then most probably this is the cause of that glitch. Try to roll back the drivers to a previous version or check if the same glitch appears on another computer.

But if this glitch has happened without any change on your computer's hardware or software then you are lucky! Most probably your Second Life cache memory is corrupted so just clean your cache, wear only the affected clothing layers and rebake your textures.

Here is a detailed description of the workaround. It worked so far with all of our customers that they were affected with that glitch.
  1. Take off your clothes, your attachments and your skin that you are wearing (use your default "newbie" SL skin).
  2. Clear your cache (Edit -> Preferences -> Network -> Clear Cache), then logoff and log on to SL again.
  3. Wear only the clothing that has the problem (i.e. the body hair and/or the tattoo). You are usually fine after clearing the cache but if the problem persists, you need to rebake your avatar textures.
  4. To rebake your textures you need to activate the SL admin menu. Press Ctrl+Alt+D and then you will see one more option on your Menu after the "Help", the "Advanced".
  5. Go to Advanced -> Character -> Rebake Textures to rebake them (alternatively you can hit Ctrl+Alt+R). Again, you need to wear only the body hair and/or the tattoo that caused the problem.
Hopefully, after completing the above steps, your problem will be solved. If not, you can contact us to send you a fresh layer of the affected item but keep in mind that in most of the cases a fresh layer does not solve the problem.

Custom work requests



We are receiving quite often requests for custom work. As much as we want to keep our customers satisfied, unfortunately due to time constraints we are not able to do any custom work or modify our already released products.

However, please keep sending us your ideas about new designs and styles. We take all of those comments into serious consideration when we are designing new items.

On a similar note, we receive some requests from people who wish to combine for example their favorite tattoo and body hair into one layer. When our time permits, we fulfill some of those requests but only when you hold the full intellectual property rights of the textures in question.

Color Body Hair



We are receiving numerous requests from customers asking if we sell color body hair. As many of you are aware, all of our currently released body hair products include black color only. The color body hair that you see on some store displays or avatars in-world was given to them for promotional and testing reasons only and may or may not be the final releases.

However, we plan to release color body hair in the near future, in many different shades of blond, brown and red as well as some grey/white hair. We know that the color body hair has been delayed for very long, we apologize for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.

What if a Wrangler ad has models wearing 501 Levi's jeans?



The title of the post may look funny of misleading but we are trying to give you a real life analogy of what happened to vdbv.designs in Second Life. To continue with the analogy, imagine walking in a Wrangler jeans store and seeing that on the ad displays on the walls, the models are obviously wearing the 501 jeans by Levi's!

Would this ever happen in the real world? Most probably it wouldn't. Not because it is illegal but mainly because, first, Wrangler wouldn't have wanted to undermine their own line of jeans by showing the Levi's ones and second, because Levi's will not be very happy knowing that Wrangler tries to promote their jeans line by showing the 501s on the ad displays.

Well most certainly the above scenario cannot happen in real world but it can very much happen in Second Life. After a tip from a customer, we discovered a former tattoo-only store that decided to expand to the body hair business. No problem with that, on the contrary. Competition is a valuable and good thing, since it makes us work harder in order to improve our designs.
However, his 3 released body hair items are next to his 70+ tattoo items which show a model wearing one of our most recognizable and top selling body hair set, the {Morpheus}. The {Morpheus} Body Hair set is not only displayed on the tattoo items, it is everywhere you look. On the freebie box, the landmark giver display, even the sign and the classified image for the store!

We have absolutely no problem with showing our body hair items on anyone's stores. There are numerous stores in-world (clothing, underwear, accessories etc) that use our body hair items on their displays, and we are very pleased when we see those. However, the problem arises when someone tries to sell a certain type of product when at the same time uses a similar product of another merchant everywhere in his store!

It is more than obvious that there is a conflict or at least bad style, isn't it? Well, probably not for the merchant in question who seems that he is unable to grasp what is wrong with that. Or, to be precise, he is very able to understand what the issue is, but probably he is too lazy to update his store displays or just move the body hair in another floor. Or he just like this kind of false advertising, thinking that it will increase his profits. Unfortunately, this cannot be any further from the truth.

We have announced a while ago that several of our products are being used on set of VolaVola, the first mixed reality film combining the world of Second Life with the real world.
