Tattoo Layer Update

A few months ago we we announced that after the introduction of the new "tattoo" layer in Second Life Viewer 2, we were working on implementing this layer on our current and future BODY HAiR SHOP products. However, due to some reasons not related with the BODY HAiR SHOP, the release of the "tattoo" layer had to be delayed.

Now, after the recent release of the updated Second Life Viewer 2.1, and the added tint/color to the "tattoo" layer, we are happy to announced that we are resuming working on implementing the tattoo layer on all of our curent and future BODY HAiR SHOP products.

Tattoo Layer in SL Viewer 2 - An Update

A while ago we announced that after the introduction of the new "tattoo" layer in Second Life Viewer 2, we were testing on implementing this layer on our current and future BODY HAiR SHOP products. We are still working on that, however the release of the "tattoo" layer might take a while, and there are two main reasons for this delay, none of them directly related with the BODY HAiR SHOP.

First, there are still very few Second Life residents that use exclusively the new SLv2. The vast majority of the residents are still using the SLv1 and/or Third Party SL Viewers. Considering that, according to Linden Lab, there are no plans to implement the tattoo layer in SLv1 and that most Third Party Viewers have not yet implemented the tattoo layer, wearing a tattoo layer at this time will result in a completely different viewing experience to the majority of the residents, leading to inconsistent results.

Second, and most important, the "tattoo" layer in SLv2 does not have the option of coloring/tinting like all the previous clothing layers have. This is a big omission, given that most textures need to be fine tuned for color after uploading to the SL servers. According to some sources, this will be fixed on the later versions of SLv2 but until then unfortunately we have to delay the release of the tattoo layer of our products in order to provide consistent results for everyone.

The new Second Life Viewer 2

As many of the Second Life residents know already, Linden Lab (LL) has recently announced the release of their brand new Second Life Viewer 2 (SLv2), which according to LL will offer "an improved new resident experience". However for the old residents, the SLv2 is a vast depart from the Second Live viewer v1.xx, with many pros and cons which are already debated in various blogs and fora. It offers a completely redesigned UI, many changes to familiar features and completely new features not available in SLv1.

Regarding the BODY HAiR SHOP products, one new feature of SLv2, is the highly welcome and particularly important for the body hair items. The long overdue implementation of the "tattoo" layer. In SLv2 is now possible to add a texture layer (tattoo, body hair, makeup etc) on top of the avatar skin. The main advantage of this is that there is no longer a need to use the clothing layers for body art which makes things easier and more versatile for the designers and the residents. Another big advantage is that we can keep the valuable clothing layers available for what they were meant to be used for, clothes!

We are really excited about this new and long awaited feature and currently we are testing it in order to implement it in the most appropriate way to the current and future BODY HAiR SHOP products. Color Body Hair

We are receiving numerous requests from customers asking if we sell color body hair. As many of you are aware, all of our currently released body hair products include black color only. The color body hair that you see on some store displays or avatars in-world was given to them for promotional and testing reasons only and may or may not be the final releases.

However, we plan to release color body hair in the near future, in many different shades of blond, brown and red as well as some grey/white hair. We know that the color body hair has been delayed for very long, we apologize for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.

New multi-layered body hair

Following our customers requests, all the new and old body hair products are now available in multiple layers so you can use the body hair together with tattoos, undershirts, underpants etc.

- The Chest and Abdominal hair is now available in four different layers: undershirt, shirt, jacket and undershirt with underarm hair.

- The Leg and Genital area hair is now available in two different layers: pants and underpants.

Hello everyone, since many of you have requested underarm hair, we are happy to announce that as of today it is available in all the upper layer items (i.e., chest hair and body hair sets).

All group members who have purchased chest hair or body hair sets in the past, they can get the new item free of charge. Just drop a notecard in-world to Vakis Oranos with the name of the product you’ve purchased and you will receive your new undershirt layer that includes additionally underarm hair.

FREE underarm hair for our group members

After many requests of our customers for underarm hair, we are currently designing some underarm styles that will be released in the near future.

In the meantime, we decided to offer our first underarm item free for all the members of our update Group vdbv.designs. The members of the group will receive a notice with instructions on how to get the underarm hair.

The TAC Charity Event (update)

A while ago we announced our participation and sponsoring of the TAC (Treatment Action Campaign) Charity event. Today we are happy to announce that the event will culminate with a Runway Fashion Show where [vdbv.designs] will have a major part, presenting a preview line of the long-awaited color body hair.


At the Second Look and the Finale of the Runway Fashion Show we will present for the first time 12 Body Hair Sets of blond, brown, auburn and red color. Please come by for a sneak preview, the items will not be released until the first half of the next year. It will also be a lot of fun, plus we will raise L$ for a great cause.
