Undelivered products from SL Marketplace



Lately we are getting some reports that customers who purchase our products from the Second Life Marketplace do not receive them in-world. While the delivery fails, the system also fails to automatically give them a refund.

Even if we are not responsible for undelivered items (the creator of Second Life Marketplace, Linden Lab is) please contact us in-world by sending an IM or a notecard and we will send you the undelivered item as soon as possible.

Here are some useful tips when purchasing items from SL Marketplace:
  • Please make sure that you don’t set your status to “busy” while you are in-word when purchasing items from the Marketplace.

  • If your product is not delivered the first time you purchased it and you didn’t get an automatic refund, please do not try to purchase the same product for the second time because there is a chance that the delivery will fail again and you will be double charged for the second item.

  • Regardless of our policy on undelivered products we suggest that you file a support ticket with Linden Lab, especially when you are double charged for the same product, since it is not possible to refund items with no-trasfer permission.

Store invites - Information for Mall Owners



We receive very often in-world invites from Mall owners offering a vending space at their malls. During the last four years we have opened (and closed) more than 80 stores in many locations in Second Life grid, and as a result we have acquired a lot of experience on what constitutes a successful business relationship between the mall and the store owners.

Therefore, the store invitations will only be considered for review only if they meet the following criteria:

  • Quality of the Mall: The concept and design of the mall have to be of the highest standards. We absolutely don’t rent at malls with campers, bots or resell items.

  • Management of the Mall: The mall owner has to show that he/she put an effort into the operation of the mall as well as its self-promotion. This will ensure that our sales at minimum will cover the rent for the store.

  • Viable business model: Please make sure that your business model is sustainable. Mall owners that open and close in short time a mall or they are frequently moving locations of the mall will not be considered.

  • Location and Pricing of the Store: The store space has to be on a visible location of the mall with its own landing point. The pricing has to be reasonable; as a guide, L$500 per week for 50 prims is not reasonable and your offer will not be considered.

  • Testing phase: To set up a store at your mall you should offer at least one month free of charge to ensure that the sales are covering the lease. This is simple math and the very foundation of your business and mine. Alternatively, it is possible to get a space with commission instead of a lease. The commission is usually 20-25% and up to 30% for exceptional malls.

If you meet all of the above criteria, we are happy to work with you for a successful and long lasting business relationship. In any other case, the unsolicited notecard spam will be discarded.

[vdbv.designs] Store Card valid until 31 October




This is a reminder about the [vdbv.designs] Store Card.

As we have announced earlier, due to a serious security bug we have stopped selling the Store Card on 20 August 2010 but residents who had already purchased a Card before that date could continue using it until 31 October 2010.

You have two more weeks to use your remaining Store Card credit. After 31 October 2010, it will not be possible to use the [vdbv.designs] Store Card in any of the BODY HAiR SHOP outpost stores. Any purchased Cards, cannot be returned and cannot be refunded with Linden dollars.

You can still use your [vdbv.designs] Store Card at the following BODY HAiR SHOP outpost stores, until 31 October 2010:

We are currently testing alternative and hopefully more secure Store Card Systems and we will inform you here when we will implement it. The SL International Mr. Leather Contest 2010




We are pleased to announce our sponsoring of the Impulse International Mr. Leather Contest 2010 (IML10). IML is the biggest and oldest event of its kind in Second Life (currently on its 4th year) and is very popular with contestant participation and observers of the event.

The contest will be held on 23th-26th September 2010 on a class 5 private SIM, rented exclusively for the event, so it is as low lag as possible, and the location will be provided right before the contest happens.

[vdbv.designs] Store Card discontinued




We are sorry to announce that as of today we are forced to discontinue selling the [vdbv.designs] Store Card, due to a very serious security bug related to the Second Life server. All the Store Card dispensers in-world are already deleted, therefore it will not be possible to purchase more Cards as of today 8/20/2010.

However, in order to give our loyal customers and residents who already possess a [vdbv.designs] Store Card the chance to use their credit, we give a grace period of 2+ months. Therefore, residents who have already purchased a Store Card, can still use it until 31 October 2010.

After that date, it will not be possible to use the Store Card in any of the BODY HAiR SHOP outpost stores. So please use the unused credit of your Store Cards until 31 October 2010 because any purchased Cards, cannot be returned and cannot be refunded with Linden dollars.

We are very sorry to announce the discontinuation of our Store Card system, however we would like to stress that we have no other option left. This is a serious bug directly related only to the Store Card developer and Linden Lab Second Life server, and [vdbv.designs] have nothing to do with this.

In addition, by giving you more than two months time in order to use the Store Card credit, this grace period is one of the longest of any Second Life merchant. Most of the merchants, have already given a grace period of 1-2 weeks or no grace period at all.

Finally, we would like to note that we were aware of this serious issue for almost two years now but we decided to keep it "under the hood" until the Store Card developer and/or Linden Lab could find a solution, in order not to bring serious inconvenience to our customers. Unfortunately, neither LL nor the developer provided a fix to the bug until now.

For the most of that period, the problem went unnoticed and did not affect directly the [vdbv.designs] Store Card. However, given some recent "suspicious" activity of known residents/copybotters we are now forced to discontinue our Store Card before we lose more sales.

Tattoo Layer Update




A few months ago we we announced that after the introduction of the new "tattoo" layer in Second Life Viewer 2, we were working on implementing this layer on our current and future BODY HAiR SHOP products. However, due to some reasons not related with the BODY HAiR SHOP, the release of the "tattoo" layer had to be delayed.

Now, after the recent release of the updated Second Life Viewer 2.1, and the added tint/color to the "tattoo" layer, we are happy to announced that we are resuming working on implementing the tattoo layer on all of our curent and future BODY HAiR SHOP products.

Tattoo Layer in SL Viewer 2 - An Update




A while ago we announced that after the introduction of the new "tattoo" layer in Second Life Viewer 2, we were testing on implementing this layer on our current and future BODY HAiR SHOP products. We are still working on that, however the release of the "tattoo" layer might take a while, and there are two main reasons for this delay, none of them directly related with the BODY HAiR SHOP.

First, there are still very few Second Life residents that use exclusively the new SLv2. The vast majority of the residents are still using the SLv1 and/or Third Party SL Viewers. Considering that, according to Linden Lab, there are no plans to implement the tattoo layer in SLv1 and that most Third Party Viewers have not yet implemented the tattoo layer, wearing a tattoo layer at this time will result in a completely different viewing experience to the majority of the residents, leading to inconsistent results.

Second, and most important, the "tattoo" layer in SLv2 does not have the option of coloring/tinting like all the previous clothing layers have. This is a big omission, given that most textures need to be fine tuned for color after uploading to the SL servers. According to some sources, this will be fixed on the later versions of SLv2 but until then unfortunately we have to delay the release of the tattoo layer of our products in order to provide consistent results for everyone.
